Pain Relief

Pain Relief

When you come in for pain, the first thing we will do is assess where the pain is coming from. Is it from a physical injury, past or present, or is it pain from an inflammatory process like an autoimmune condition, fibromyalgia, or even depression.

Everything I do is in conjunction with your physician, if you wish. I may ask you for any Xrays or other medical reports you’ve already had so we can see what’s going on inside of your body.  I also want to be aware of any medications you are taking for pain.

We may lock in the treatment with some earseeds to stimulate the body’s own healing response. I also may send you home with herbs, homeopathics, creams or a tool of your own for pain relief between visits.

Naprapathic and alternative pain relief

We will start out with a Naprapathic evaluation: I will check your posture, press on your spine to find tender spots, and look at the general alignment of your body. Then I will do a Naprapathic manipulation to correct what we find out of balance. Along with my hands I may also use some tools like massagers and a low level laser, or some anti-inflammatory creams.

Pain

The role of energy medicine in pain relief

Did you know that the sensation of pain originates in the nervous system? We feel it in the body, but it comes from the brain and nerves. Sometimes after an injury has healed, the body “forgets to stop hurting.” The most severe form of this is Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. The most common is what we call fibromyalgia, and in between we have neuropathies and post-shingles pain.

I’ve had good success with mind body medicine, especially the Neuromodulation Technique, as it retrains the brain to give appropriate signals to the tissues, and the tissues to give appropriate signals to the brain. It also helps with the stress associated with chronic pain conditions.

Natural Pain Relief without Surgery or Drugs

  • A man came to see me for hip and leg pain. He strained those parts doing work on his house. He was also overstretching at the gym, which was aggravating the pain. We had four sessions of Naprapathic treatment along with a low level laser. Additionally, he stopped the overstretching and recovered quickly.

  • A woman came in with a diagnosis of fibromyalgia. She also had a reactivated case of Epstein-Barr virus, a common cause of chronic pain. She had been to various bodyworkers and was on many supplements. Although they helped her to some degree, she was still experiencing pain. We started out with Naprapathic treatment, but quickly combined it with mind/body medicine for unresolved stress and emotional issues that were contributing to the pain. We also did specific supplementation for the underlying infections. She isn’t 100% out of pain yet but is much better and able to do many more activities than she was when she first came to The Center for Natural Therapy.
